2009 GCCA Cichlid Classic

The 2009 GCCA Cichlid Classic was fantastic. The show had some high quality fish although entry numbers were down. The speakers were also fantastic, perhaps the best line-up to speak at a classic.

The speakers included Greg Steeves (Victorians), Hernan Lopez-Fernandez (Royal Ontario Museum, South American Phylogeny), Ad Konings (Malawi), Willie Loh (Discus), Rich Bireley (Tanganyikans). All gave great talks. One of the highlights was in the middle of Hernan Lopez-Fernandez's talk, he and Ad Konings had quite a talk on phylogeny and speciation in cichlids. It was very interesting.
